Creativity, by which something new, original, and valuable is formed, has positive connotations. This volume features essays on creative processes in technological invention, engineering design, architecture, music composition, improvisation, sound recording, authenticity in music, and computer music. They deal with significant present-day as well as with historical issues of creativity. They explore what creative processes in different domains have in common, to what extent cognitive science can shed light on them and how they can be modelled. Contrary to some approaches in creativity studies, the authors, if ever possible, try to avoid speculation and come to empirically valid conclusions.

Dabei verwiesen diese Filmfiguren auf Ordnungsvorstellungen, die technokratische bis voelkische Loesungen der zeitgenoessisch virulenten Frage nach dem Konflikt von Kapital und Arbeit bemuhten. In einem technikhistorischen Zugriff auf cineastische vergangene Zukunfte sowie unter Anwendung des Konzepts der hegemonialen Mannlichkeit analysiert die Autorin die filmische Inszenierung von Ingenieuren und Technik. Sie zeigt auf, dass sich diese Filme als (Zerr-)Spiegel einer zentralen Konfliktlinie der industriellen Klassengesellschaft der Zwischenkriegszeit verstehen lassen.

Damit stellt sich die Frage nach den Versaumnissen der Vergangenheit. Fur die Jahre 1955 bis 1979 wird untersucht, wie die Endlagerungsfrage von Behoerden und Beratern wahrgenommen wurde. Auswahl- und Durchsetzungsprozesse, Massnahmen und Motive werden beleuchtet. Funktion und Eignung des zwischen 1967 und 1978 genutzten Salzbergwerks Asse II stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt. Trotz zweifelhafter Langzeitsicherheit sollte die Grube als Endlager bis zum Jahr 2000 dienen. Der Atomwirtschaft und den zoegernden Energieversorgungsunternehmen konnte signalisiert werden, dass die Endlagerungsfrage dem wirtschaftlichen Durchbruch der Atomenergie nicht im Weg stehen wurde.
